Riverside Liquors and Village

Friday evening I attended the Five Points "block party" and found myself participating in another wine tasting, this time at Riverside Liquors and Village located in Five Points. No cover charge this time to sample the four wines (pinot grigio, chardonnay, cabernet, and merlot) but none of them tasted as nice as those served at the Cork and Keg a few days earlier.

Having only been in this store once or twice before, I had not noticed the bar in the back. Slightly cramped, dimly lit, and surrounded by boxes and bottles, the bar area gives off a quaint speak-easy vibe but with a very relaxing atmosphere... no fear of police raids or gang warfare here. The regular patrons were friendly and we became embroiled in conversation with a pleasant older gentleman who told us of his world-wide culinary expeditions.

Unfortunately, both the store and the bar have rather limited hours but, if I find myself in Riverside again during that small window and fancy a glass of wine then I'll not hesitate to stop in again.
