Claude's Chocolate - St. Augustine, FL

Located on Hypolita Street, Claude's is the perfect stop for a treat after a leisurely stroll around downtown.
The shop itself is small and quaint and reminds me of the chocolate shops of Paris (incidentally the owner and chef is French.)

We found the staff to be incredibly helpful in answering all of our many questions about the various different little delights.
Even with their help it was difficult choosing between the many varieties offered, but we finally settled on a few, which were then wrapped up beautifully, making them not only perfect for a little dessert with a loved one, but also great presents as well.

Unfortunately, as Claude's is rather small there is no where to sit to enjoy these little pieces of heaven within the shop, so we suggest either stopping by one of the many coffee shops in town for an espresso or sitting down by the intercoastal. The chocolate is very rich and thus we found it best to split the chocolates into pieces, this way you can try the different varities without incurring a stomach ache, but moreover having your own little chocolate tasting with a friend or loved one is in and of itself an enriching experience, which, much like Claude's, you won't soon forget.

Our favorites:
The Sea Salt Caramels - Caramel covered in dark chocolate and sprinkled with sea salt, an absolutely delightful combination.
The Mayan Spicy - A dark chocolate ganache with just enough kick to make it interesting.

Yum! That looks delicious! Have you ever had popsicles from the Hyppo? They're in downtown St. Augustine and have the craziest flavors!
